About Ruben Consa, AIFD, Owner and Operator of Floral Environments
Ruben Consa is an award-winning international floral designer. He has been involved in the
floral industry for over 25 years as a designer, retailer, educator,
commentator and promoter of floral products. Until 1998, Mr. Consa was owner of
two of Manhattan's most respected flower shops, Environmental Designs.
His clientele there included Broadway stage actors, Hollywood
stars, professional athletes and major Italian fashion houses like
Giorgio Armani, Valentino and Ungaro.
Ruben Consa's floral education began in New
York and has been complemented by further study in Holland, Italy, and
England. He is a spontaneous and energetic designer who incorporates his
own metal and wood sculptures into his floral designs. He has done special
events at New York City's Museum of Modern Art, the American Craft
Museum, the Brooklyn Museum and Gracie Mansion ... and most recently at the Design
Center of the Americas (DCOTA) and art galleries in Coral Gables and
the Biltmore Hotel. He has also decorated many private homes in West
Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties.
Ruben Consa has won many awards including the well known Grammercy
Park, New York Flower Show, and FTD America's Cup.
He has also taught and presented shows throughout the United States, Europe,
South America and the Caribbean.
In 1997, he worked with the Innovation and Practical Training University
located in Ede, Netherlands (Holland) creating a post-secondary level
textbook concerning the influences of various cultures on floral design.
Also during this year, he began working as an editor for the Professional
Floral Designer Magazine, the official publication of the American Floral
Services (AFS).
Since 1989, Ruben Consa has been an active member of the American Institute of
Floral Designers (AIFD), an organization of 2000 members worldwide dedicated
to upholding the highest standards of professionalism through public
education of floral design. Membership is selective and offered only
to floral designers who have exhibited great technical skill and artistic
ability. When AIFD appears after a florist's name it means that
designer is committed to excelling in professional floral design. In July
1998, Ruben Consa presented "Cultura Latina" at the AIFD National Convention
in Boston, Massachussets.
In 1999, Ruben Consa moved to South Florida and established Floral Environments,
where he is capturing everyone's attention with his contemporary, exotic, creative
and unique floral art!
